‘Finance at Work’ is based on over 30 years of experience working with managers in India and the US. It aims at helping working managers understand how to apply finance concepts and analysis in their daily decisions – making investments, pricing, managing risk, constructing business plans, and thinking about acquisitions. This book explicitly calls attention to the difference between accounting, focused on the past, and finance, focused on the future. One of the key insights in the book is how finance is useful, just not the way textbooks think it is.Written in an easy, conversational style, the book aims to demystify finance and show that it is more about common sense than accounting jargon. The author holds a Ph.D. in Management from UCLA, has taught finance at IIM Ahmedabad, India’s leading management school, and has worked extensively in, and with, corporates in India and the US.
